Luton Hoo Walled Garden – Wednesday May 21st,
2pm
A tour of the garden, including
a visit to the dairy which will last about one and a half hours, finishing with
a visit to the tea house for refreshments.
The visit is for a maximum of 25 people and you
will need to make your own way there.
£7.50 per person
John Bunyan Cruise – Tuesday June 17th, 2.30pm
The John Bunyan offers a unique and fascinating
venue for a delicious tea with hand made scone with
clotted cream, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries with a tea or coffee.
We will start at Priory Marina then through
Cardington Lock skirting the Priory Country Park and Nature Reserve turning
into Cardington Lock then along towards Castle Mill Lock before turning round
to return to Priory Marina.
A maximum of 40 people is recommended for a
comfortable cruise and you will need to make your own way to Priory Marina.
£26 per person
Bury St Edmunds – Tuesday July 15th, all day
On arrival, we will have a guided tour of the Cathedral.
The tour will last around an hour and
take us through the history of the building, from its link to the Abbey, to the
modern-day additions.
Lunch will be served in the Pilgrim’s Kitchen, alongside
the Cloisters, where we have been allocated a private room.
In the afternoon, we will have a tour of the ruins
of the former Benedictine Abbey, adjacent to the Cathedral. This was once one of the richest, largest and
most powerful Benedictine monasteries in England. People came from all over England and further
afield to visit the Shrine of St Edmund and it became one of the most famous and wealthy pilgrimage locations
in England, visited by royalty.
£45 per person, which
includes two tours and lunch
